Wednesday 21st July 2010
On Monday 7th June 2010 Stuart Cable, aged 40 was tragically found dead at his home in Llwydcoed, Wales.
Stuart was an ex drummer for the Welsh band Stereophonics and member of his current group Killing For Company. Not only was he a music artist but also regularly involved himself in charitable events.
In 2002 he was part of a billboard campaign for Testicular Cancer Awareness and most recently completed a 50 mile Welsh Cycle Challenge for PACT (Parents & Abducted Children Together).
In honour of Stuart and the work that he has done, Killing For Company will be releasing the single ‘Former Mining Town’ on the 25th July 2010. Not only will it be dedicated to his memory but also all proceeds will be donated towards the charities, Teenage Cancer Trust and TÅ· Hafan, the family hospice for young lives.
The single was written in 2009 by the band, who have said:
“To think Stu won’t be joining us on stage anymore is a hard thought to face and although his passing is tragic, we hope to draw some positive from this difficult time. As a band, we are honoured and privileged to have shared the experiences we’ve had with Stu.
We will be releasing the single, ‘Former Mining Town’, and dedicating it to Stuart; he was hugely proud of the album and this track in particular. All funds raised will be donated to Teenage Cancer Trust and TÅ·· Hafan. Not only have we lost a rock legend but also a best friend and the heart of our band. The stage will not be the same without him.”
The single will be available to download from iTunes from the 25th July and all other major online stores.
