Iconic Swedish skate-punks Millencolin have shared the first in a three-part ‘making-of’ video series titled, The True Brew Story.
‘Part 1: The Recording’ takes fans behind the scenes at their own Soundlab Studios HQ in Sweden as Guitarist Mathias Färm walks you through the control desk, and Millencolin’s recording techniques, as they lay down album track ‘Perfection Is Boring’. While vocalist/bassist Nikola Sarcevic tracks lead vocals at Fascination Street studios with Jens Bogren (Opeth, Soilwork, Katatonia, Paradise Lost).
Speaking of the recording process Sarcevic reveals, “tracking vocals is usually a big struggle and pain in the ass for me. I get this crazy headache and I usually lose my voice after two days but since Jens, being the pro he is, knew exactly how hard he could push me to get what he needed from me, I never had to sing anything more times than necessary, which saved my voice a lot.”
Due April 27th via Epitaph, True Brew is a record that could only come out of four adults who have been side by side since they were teenagers, who have weathered changing politics, shifting cultures and the rise and fall of all kinds of musical trends. And it’s clear they’re just as unified as they were when they formed Millencolin, roughly 23 years, seven albums and 1,500 live shows ago.
True Brew was self-recorded by the band, mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, produced by Sarcevic and Färm in Soundlab Studios, with all artwork, photography and music videos created by guitarist Erik Ohlsson.
